JW Aluminum expanding at Mt. Holly

JW Aluminum has launched an expansion of its Mount Holly, S.C., flat-rolled aluminum plant. The project is expected to enhance the company’s abilities to serve its primary end markets.

Construction includes a new 220,000-square-foot building and the installation of a new twin-belt continuous casting process, which will increase capacity by 175 million pounds. The Hazelett Model AS2000 casting machine is capable of producing 2,000-millimeter wide strip at approximately 50 tons per hour. Alloy capabilities include 1XXX, 3XXX, 5XXX, and 6XXX series.
